Moscow, Aug 10 (Prensa Latina) Due to the explosion at the optical-mechanical factory in Sergiev Posad, in the Moscow region, 12 people were reported missing, the spokeswoman for the Regional Investigative Committee, Olga Vradi, said today.

According to the spokeswoman on her Telegram channel, another 14 people remain under treatment in the Sergiev Posad hospital after the explosion, three of whom are in serious condition in intensive care.

Earlier, one patient died and two others were transferred for treatment to federal clinics. In total, during the last day medical assistance was provided to 71 affected people,” the statement said.

An explosion occurred yesterday in a workshop with fireworks rented by the Piro-Ross company on the territory of the Zagorsk mechanical-optical factory.

Last March, the company had already received a warning from the Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Nuclear Control (Rostejnadzor), which carried out an inspection of the workshop.

The explosion forced the evacuation of all buildings and workshops located on the territory of the factory, as well as a nearby kindergarten. The blast also caused broken glass in many factory buildings and several nearby residential buildings.

The Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case for violation of industrial safety requirements.
