Costa Rican association calls for solidarity with Cuba

Cuba-Costa-Rica
San José, Aug 10 (Prensa Latina) The Yamileth López Bolivarian Circle (CBYLO) called for international solidarity with Cuba at a time when the right wing wants to turn Costa Rica into the powerhouse of its attacks on Cuba.

The group issued a statement entitled “Solidarity with Cuba means dignity,” in which it rejects the constant and recent meetings of well-known opponents of the Cuban Revolution to intensify, along with Costa Rican fascism, the fight for “human rights” and “democracy” in Cuba.

“This makes Costa Rica a place of propaganda against a people and a Revolution, taking advantage of the dominance of the right wing at the Presidential House and the Legislative Assembly,” the statement denounced.

CBYLO feels the need to call for solidarity for Cuba from all those sectors that still believe in dignity and the ideals of justice and social inclusion, science, education and technology at the service of the people.

“One of these playboys, in versions divulged by their own right-wing media in Miami, boasted of meetings in San José with high-ranking officials from the Executive Branch and Parliament to promote changes in Cuba at any cost from our homeland,” the statement added.

“If there are a literate people in the world, it is the Cuban,” it stressed, and added that “the country they left behind will no longer be a casino or distribution center for cocaine and marijuana, nor will those mafia parties, which (…) made use of the needs of the poor, which they themselves promoted, to deceive, defraud and peddle influence. That Cuba… forget about it!”

“If the fascist right wing in Costa Rica cared about human rights, they would have spoken out when hundreds of people were locked up in the Guantanamo prison and in dozens of US clandestine prisons around the world without a fair trial. (…) They shut up as accomplices whenever they are reminded that journalist Julian Assange is still in prison after publicizing the massacres against civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan,” the statement stressed.

That is why the world has condemned the blockade against the Cuban people in the United Nations General Assembly on 13 consecutive occasions, while the United States and Israel oppose it.
