On Wednesday, on its social networks, the institution confirmed that among those wounded are a legislative candidate and two police officers.
The politician, who was running for the presidency for the Construye movement, was shot dead on Wednesday afternoon when he was leaving a campaign rally in the north of Quito.
The assassination was perpetrated although the candidate was mobilized with police protection due to threats he had received weeks before, according to what he himself denounced.
The attack took place at a time when the country is going through a crisis of insecurity and political violence which has claimed the lives of Manta Mayor Agustín Intriago and Legislative Candidate Rider Sánchez, from Esmeraldas, in the last few weeks.
