Russian defense thwarts attempt to attack Moscow with drones

Moscow, Aug 9 (Prensa Latina) The Ministry of Defense informed Wednesday that it thwarted an Ukrainian attempt to attack Moscow with drones when the capital's anti-aircraft defense systems destroyed two unmanned aerial vehicles over this capital.

The military institution added in a press release that the two drones were detected as they approached Moscow and were shot down without causing any casualties or damage.

A few minutes earlier, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported an attempted attack with two drones early Wednesday morning.

According to the senior official, such drones were shot down by air defense forces near Domodedovo airport and the Minsk highway.

On July 30 evening, one drone was shot down on Moscow’s outskirts, and two others, suppressed by electronic warfare systems, were smashed into business offices, housing, and shopping and entertainment centers, in this capital.
