Ninth India-Africa ICT Expo began in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, Aug 9 (Prensa Latina) The ninth India-Africa ICT Expo began here today with the participation of 30 Indian and 16 national companies linked to telecommunications and information and communications technology (ICT).

The two-day event, jointly organized by the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology and Telecommunications Equipment and Services, New Delhi, aims to promote the Digital Ethiopia 2025 strategy among stakeholders.

ICT entrepreneurs, giant companies and various technology owners are also attending on a single platform, state-owned Fana Broadcasting Corporate confirmed.

The opening of the expo was attended by Ethiopian industry head Huria Ali, the president of the capital’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mesnebet Shenkute, Indian Ambassador Shri Robert Shetkintong and heads of exhibiting companies.

The government took steps to liberalize and privatize the telecommunications sector since 2018 and its opening offers key opportunities for innovative Indian companies.

The Ethiopia Digital Strategy 2025 is aligned with the country’s 2021-2030 development plan.

The World Bank approved a $200 million concessional loan agreement for its implementation.
