I resign as a people’s lawmaker, I leave the GERB party and politics, Rashidov said in a special statement to local media.
Earlier, Rashidos quit as chairman of the parliamentary committee on culture and media and a member of GERB’s executive committee, amid a scandal over his use of profanity against women in Parliament.
During an extraordinary meeting last Monday, at which lawmakers passed amendments to the law on protection against domestic violence by a majority vote, Rashidov, unaware that the microphones were on, blasphemed against women.
Representatives of political parties and public associations condemned his statements, for which he was forced to issue an official apology.
