Parallel to the meeting of Brics members (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), to be held in Johannesburg on August 22-24, the Brics Plus Dialogue and the Brics Africa Outreach, events that include nations from the Global South and the African continent, will be held.
The 15th Summit will be held under the theme: “Brics and Africa: Partnership for Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development and Inclusive Multilateralism”.
At a press conference, Pandor revealed that South African President Cyril Ramaphosa invited (after consensus with Brics leaders) 67 senior leaders from Africa and the global South (from countries covering all continents) to participate in these meetings.
In addition, he added, the President extended invitations to 20 international leaders such as the Secretary General of the United Nations, the Chairman of the African Union Commission, the Chairman of the New Development Bank, and the Chairmen and Chief Executives of the African Regional Economic Communities.
In addition, heads of African financial organizations, the Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area, and Executive Director of the African Union Development Agency.
Participants at the Brics Africa Outreach and Brics Plus Dialogues meetings, Pandor said, will reflect on strengthening mutually beneficial partnerships for growth, development, peace and inclusive multilateralism in a multipolar world.
