The deployment of troops before the opening ceremony of Peña President-elect on April 30 elections, includes mobilizing since this coming Friday all the metropolitan staff of the Transit Police, stated in a press conference Juan Villalba, director of that entity.
Villalba set forth that some 250 traffic control agents will keep barracked positions through August 16 along with the support of motorized equipment, patrol cars and cranes for coverage during the whole event.
The road closures, which cover important road junctions of Asuncion, will affect mainly streets and avenues of the historic center, and will begin on Friday from 23:00 pm (local time), with the central Costanera at its intersection with Colon and Rio Ypane.
Villalba informed there is “a good atmosphere of cooperation” with the Armed Forces and other agencies that make up the inter-institutional table in charge of the security operation for these events.
