On Sunday, two Paraguayan citizens were arrested as they tried to smuggle nearly two kilos of cocaine into Europe. They carried the drug in their stomachs.
Both travelers had arrived on a flight from Argentina and were bound for Spain.
Thanks to a medical team, the women were able to expel the drugs.
One was carrying 70 capsules of cocaine and the other one 90 capsules, totalling 1.5 kilograms of the drug.
It was the third seizure of cocaine at the capital’s air terminal in the last six weeks with a similar destination, indicating that Uruguay is still on the drug trafficking route in the efforts to take the illicit cargo to Europe and Africa.
