The charges fluctuate from the one applied to small vehicles, amounting to 10 thousand guaraníes (1.3734 dollars), paid by the drivers at the strategic road junction of Ypacaraí, after demonstrations and negotiations against an increase that tripled the initial amount.
These new rates demanded at this point of the sector administered by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MPWC) double that amount for tractors, trucks and buses with double axles, and quadruple it for those with more than three axles.
The initial increase was challenged by representatives of the Central Obrera and Transporte de Paraguay, which now view the MPWC’s decision with approval, and lifted the protest measures following an agreement, with the MPWC, although leaders of the latter considered the reduction as “temporary”.
