Costa Ricans demand an end to female violence on the Internet (+Photo)

San José, Aug 5 (Prensa Latina) The United Nations Population Fund (Unpfa) representative in Costa Rica, Juan Luis Bermudez, spoke here today about the risks, facilitated by technologies on the Internet, with the misuse of images and gender violence, especially directed at women.

We want decision-makers to be able to regulate the world’s platforms. Today the decision is how we are going to do it and do it fast, he said in statements to Prensa Latina.

The Unpfa is currently leading a campaign in Costa Rica demanding a halt to digital violence against women and the misuse of their images on the Internet.

The initiative took advantage in the context of the fashion week in Costa Rica, which closes this Saturday, showing several messages on the Body-right catwalk: My body belongs to me also on the Internet, Silence in the face of digital violence is not indifference, it is complicity.
