Young Cuban artists hold personal exhibitions in Havana (+Photo)

Havana, Aug 4 (Prensa Latina) The Havana-based Center for the Development of Visual Arts (CDAV) inaugurated two personal exhibitions by young artists, as part of a broad program at exhibition halls.

The exhibitions, inaugurated on Thursday, will be be open until September. One of them is entitled “Zona Sagrada” (Sacred Zone), which consists of drawings and installations created by Oslendy Hernandez and curated by art critic Maykel Jose Rodriguez Calviño.

For this young artist, asking what is sacred or what gives an object a sacred character is the beginning of a long road in a cognitive adventure, according to the presentation of the exhibition.

It offers the language of a phenomenon called hierophany, which is usually called something sacred that is presented to man, although not in the supreme form where it borders on the religious, but in the simplest representation, in which the manifestation of the sacred is given in any object.

Another of the personal exhibitions at the CDAV is “Hueco en la escafandra” (Hole in the Diving Bell), a project by Yeinier Nuñez Lopez, which won the Juan Francisco Elso Creation Grant in 2022, granted by the Hermanos Saiz Association (AHS), and a mention at the 8th Post-it Hall of Contemporary Cuban Art.

The artist, better known as Wajiro, was born in the Cuban province of Camagüey in 1995. He is a sculptor and professor, graduated from the University of the Arts in 2020 and from the Vicentina de la Torre Recio Arts Academy in his birth province in 2014.
