The film event is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its founding by late filmmaker Humberto Solás.

Perugorría, who is its honorary president starting year, has been an essential figure in the relaunch and revival of the festival since 2019, during the health crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

With his extraordinary performing talent, the artist made his mark on the national and international film scene after playing a young homosexual named Diego in Tomás Gutiérrez Alea’s Fresa y Chocolate (Strawberry and Chocolate, 1993).

The virtuoso actor is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Spain and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Hollywood, the United States.
