The director’s latest motion picture is the result of a collaboration between the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) and the Spanish production company Wanda Films.

The movie will be screened until August 20 as part of the summer program.

Nelsito, the film’s protagonist, is a 16-year-old autistic teenager who runs away from home. While everyone is worried about him, he records every detail of his imagination, telling us about the dark and hidden side of those around him.

When he returns home, the viewer will determine the fundamental nature of the characters and how accurate the teenager’s perceptions are.

The film’s cast includes well-known Cuban stars such as Isabel Santos, Laura de la Uz, Jacqueline Arenal, Carlos Enrique Almirante, Paula Alí, Edith Massola, and Mario Guerra.

The screenplay was written by Fernando Pérez and Abel Rodríguez, while Raúl Prado was the cinematographer, Sheyla Poll was the sound technician, Jorge Amado was responsible for the original soundtrack.

Fernando Pérez is one of Cuba’s most renowned filmmakers and has directed such motion pictures as “Clandestinos” (Clandestine, 1987), “Hello Hemingway” (1990), “La Vida es Silbar” (Life Is to Whistle, 1998), “Suite Habana” (Havana Suite, 2002), and “José Martí, el ojo del canario” (José Martí, Eye of the Canary, 2010), among others.

He has receives awards at national and international contests and festivals, such as the Casa de las Américas Award in 1982 and the First Coral Award at the New Latin American Film Festival in Havana for the feature film “Hello Hemingway.”
