Angela Maria Buitrago Ruiz, Amelia Perez Parra and Amparo Ceron Ojeda, are those proposed by Petro for replacing Francisco Barbosa.
“Regarding inquiries or criminal proceedings involving my family members, I ask you to consider the odd of appointing an ad-hoc prosecutor so that there are no doubts concerning their transparency,” Petro pointed by the time he referred to the case against his son.
The list of three candidates was formally received by Gerson Chaverra Castro who represented the President of the Supreme Court of Justice Fernando Castillo Cadena.
In Colombia, Article 249 of the Political Constitution sets forth the National Attorney General be elected for a four-year term by the Supreme Court of Justice, from a shortlist sent by the President, and may not be reelected.
“I have chosen three women with deep experience in criminal law and in the exercise of their professional life as prosecutors to integrate the list for the appointment of the National Attorney General,” tweeted Petro.
