The ceremony, which took place at the Olof Palme Convention Center here on Monday, was also attended by Vice President Rosario Murillo, along with the highest authorities of the Nicaraguan military institution and other guests.
During the first part of the ceremony, the Air Force received awards from the Nicaraguan Institute of Civil Aeronautics and the National and International Airports Administration Company.
It was also recognized by the Central American Corporation of Air Navigation Services, and by the Association of Military, Naval, Air and Adjunct Defense Attachés accredited in Nicaragua.
Likewise, several officers were decorated with the Medal of Honor for Air Merit, in the first and second classes, for their achievements in the performance of their duties.
The Nicaraguan Army Air Force was founded on July 31, 1979, and is made up of fixed and rotary wing aviation troops and resources, as well as air-technical and ground force units.
