Lula promises economic growth in Brazil will surprise the IMF

Brasilia, Aug 1 (Prensa Latina) President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva today promised solid and reliable economic growth in Brazil that will counteract all projections published by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“I’m an optimistic guy” and “when people realize that the economy is working, jobs start to appear, wages start to rise, inflation starts to fall. People start to realize that things are improving for them,” said Lula in his weekly program Chatting with the President, broadcast on social networks.

He assured they will be surprised by their country and “the IMF will err all the statements about the GDP (Gross Domestic Product), they will not be true. Brazil will grow solidly, reliably,” he insisted.

In May, the IMF reduced the projection for the growth of the South American giant to 0.9 percent this year.

However, on July 31, the institution projected an increase of 2.1 percent for the national economy in 2023 and 1.2 in the next calendar.

And more important than just growing, added the ex-unionist, “we are going to make a distributive growth. It is growing, it is distributing… so that people’s lives go according to the growth of the country. That is what interests the people and it’s going to happen.”

The founder of the Workers’ Party considered that growth is not a miracle, but a determination.

It is said that Lula is lucky and “so, if it is by luck, they always elect me because the country needs luck.”

For the ruler, the world needs luck and “those who are lucky are the Brazilian people for having chosen democracy to govern this country.”

He considered that social inclusion is the common thread crucial for the development of Brazil.

“A lot of money in the hands of a few, as it was before, is wealth concentration. Little money in the hands of many is wealth distribution. When everyone has a little, we will realize that things are going to improve,” he stressed.
