Defense Ministry Spokesman Tan Kefei stressed that such actions would seriously damage China’s security and severely threat peace and stability across the Strait.
“We strongly oppose this move and have solemnly expressed our opposition to the United States,” he said.
Tan recalled that the Taiwan issue affects China’s fundamental interests and is a red line that should not be crossed in bilateral relations.
According to the spokesman, this action will incite separatists seeking an alleged “independence of Taiwan” to stir up trouble and provoke China.
Beijing again urged Washington to stop all forms of military aid to Taiwan and stressed that “the historic wheel of reunification continues to move forward, and no country or force can stop it.
Senior US officials recently visited China to try to relax the deteriorating relationship between the two countries.
