The system, dubbed Sapfir (“Sapphire”), was tested by protecting engineer units from drone attacks, and it proved to be very effective, the Ministry of Defense assured on its official website.
The system can be used to protect against all kinds of UAVs.
Whenever a target is detected and identified as hostile, the device automatically classifies the drone based on the danger it poses to its objective, emits an alarm signal and jams the aircraft’s electronic systems, the source said.
The system is capable of detecting unmanned aerial vehicles at a distance of up to 30 kilometers and can neutralize them within a radius of 5,000 meters. In addition, Sapfir is capable of suppressing drone ground control stations.
