“The set of protocols is already approved; we are in an implementation phase, the people from the National Government, the Public Forces and also the National Liberation Army (ELN), who will be part of the verification mechanism, have been appointed,” he pointed out.
There is also a definition of the local mechanisms and on August 3, simultaneously with the installation of the participation committee, the ceasefire will come into effect, the High Commissioner said to the morning news program of the Presidency of the Republic Colombia Hoy Radio.
In recent statements to Prensa Latina, Senator Iván Cepeda, who is a member of the Government delegation at the Talks with the ELN, explained that this Committee will be publicly and officially installed on August 3.
The Committee will design the participatory processes of society in the construction of peace in all the talks with the ELN, and will be composed of 30 sectors, unions, organizations and institutions, the senator added.
“For the first time in the country, in a peace process with the ELN, we reach this point: that is to say, the fulfillment and development of one of the tasks established on the peace agenda,” he said.
