Reynaldo Pérez Só, Venezuela’s National Culture Prize, dies at 77

Caracas, Jul 30 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela's National Culture Prize for Literature (2019-2020) Reynaldo Pérez Só passed away on Sunday at the age of 77, marking the loss of one of the South American nation's best lyrical voices.

On Twitter, Venezuela´s Information and Communication Minister Freddy Ñáñez posted: “We have lost one of the great poets of the Spanish language, one of the pivotal spirits of Venezuelan poetry”.

Pérez Só will be one of those silences so hard to incorporate into words” Freddy Ñáñez live-tweeted.

Venezuela´s Culture Minister Ernesto Villegas, on the other hand, stated that “Venezuelan poetry mourns” today one of its greatest writers: Reinaldo Pérez Só, National Culture Prize winner and writer honored in 2022 at the Carabobo Book Fair.

On behalf of President Nicolás Maduro and the Ministry of Culture “we express our deepest condolences to his family, friends and all lovers of his poetry,” Villegas tweeted.

Thank you, professor!” Villegas posted while sharing book “Solo” by Pérez Só, published by the Monte Ávila publishing house: https://monteavilaeditores.com/libros/solo/.
