President Díaz-Canel evoked the martyrs of Cuba

Havana, Jul 30 (Prensa Latina) The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, remembered today the martyrs of the Revolution, on a national commemorative date and in recognition of their sacrifice and dedication to the Homeland.

In his Twitter account, the head of state pointed out that the Caribbean nation pays tribute to those who have fallen for national sovereignty, following what was expressed by the historic leader, Fidel Castro, in the first year that the anniversary was celebrated.

Díaz-Canel shared on the social network a fragment of Fidel Castro’s words on that occasion: “we have to come here every year to remember the dead of the Revolution; but it has to be like an examination of conscience and the conduct of each one of us”.

In addition, he remembered the young revolutionary Frank País, who was assassinated on July 30, 1957 along with Raúl Pujol.

The president of the National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament), Esteban Lazo, said that Cuba pays tribute this Sunday to Frank País and other martyrs of the country.

“To them, honor and glory, and our commitment to defend the Revolution every day with the same impetus and firmness,” he stressed.

The Day of the Martyrs of the Revolution in the Caribbean country synthesizes the perennial tribute of remembrance and respect to the over 20,000 Cubans who lost their lives in the effort to overthrow the tyrant Fulgencio Batista, continuity of those who launched the struggles for national liberation in 1868 and 1895.

In several territories of the country, acts, tributes and shows of respect are carried out towards those who offered their lives so that the country could achieve its true independence.
