Donald Trump continues his presidential bid despite legal situation

Washington, Jul 30 (Prensa Latina) Donald Trump held a rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, further evidence that the first former President to be indicted on criminal charges continues to defy his legal situation as if nothing had happened.

The rally was held on Saturday just two days after special prosecutor Jack Smith announced three additional charges against Trump for classified documents found in August 2022 at his Mar-a-Lago luxury residence.

Trump has called the 37 federal indictment against him “ridiculous and baseless”.

Paradoxically, Trump remains the frontrunner for the GOP 2024 presidential nomination, which portends a rematch fight against current President Joe Biden.

During the congregation of his supporters, Trump reiterated that the multiple indictments are politically motivated, and anticipated that if he becomes president he will open an investigation into Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.

Trump, on the other hand, hinted again that he will skip the first debate with the six GOP candidates scheduled for 23 August.

According to local media reports, Donald Trump received a “no” chorus as he asked attendees at the rally if he should attend the debate.

An article published by The New York Times warned that never before has a US president been embroiled in as many investigations and legal issues as Trump.

Perhaps it is the consequences of a business and, in the end, political career that has lived on the edge or perhaps beyond any limit, the influential newspaper noted at the time.
