According to Xinhua, President Xi Jinping stated in a letter to DPRK leader Kim Jong-un that the two nations “won a great victory by resisting US aggression” in 1953.
“No matter how the international situation changes, it is always the unswerving policy of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese Government to maintain, consolidate, and develop relations” between the two nations, the text noted.
National People’s Congress Standing Committee Vice Chairperson Li Hongzhong personally delivered the letter during his visit to North Korea for the 1953 Armistice Day celebrations.
The senior official reiterated Beijing’s willingness to strengthen communication and exchanges, advance practical cooperation, promote a healthy and stable development of bilateral relations and contribute to maintaining peace on the peninsula.
The DPRK celebrated the 70th anniversary of its independence with a solemn rally and military parade and stated that any attempt to destroy its achievements is doomed to failure.
