During his visit to Malé to participate in the events on the Maldives’ 58th anniversary of independence, González congratulated Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid on this significant date, at a meeting at which they discussed bilateral relations, the Cuban diplomat told Prensa Latina.

He also met with Health Minister Kerafa Naseem to review the development of Cuba’s medical cooperation, which they described as positive.

Cuba and the Maldives share the will to continue to strengthen bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation, and contacts between their peoples.

Both countries also agree, in their position as island States, to strengthen cooperation to face common challenges such as climate change.
