Cuba is an example for Puerto Rico, says political leader

San Juan, Jul 26 (Prensa Latina) For Puerto Ricans in struggle, Cuba is a mirror in which to look at themselves, political leader Julio Muriente Pérez said Wednesday in a message to Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the attack on both Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, the Movimiento Independentista Nacional Hostosiano (MINH) stressed that the over century-old relation between the two peoples “is sealed with our patriots´ blood on the battlefield”.

“For such a reason, Cuba continues to be a mirror in which to look at,” Muriente Pérez told Díaz-Canel.

He added, alongside MINH co-president Angel Rodriguez Leon and Secretary Carlos Vega Perez, that the July 26 uprisings led by Fidel Castro are growing as the years go by.

“The July 26 events by courageous young people, exemplary disciples of the Marti legacy, under the leadership of our beloved and unforgettable Fidel Castro, marked a turning point en route to what constitutes the historic beginning of a change of era in Our America,” he stated.

In a greater historical sense, Fidel’s words had enormous significance as he proclaimed the brave Moncadistas as sons and daughters of the generation of José Martí´s birth centenary.

“The war of independence, permanent struggle against the mediatized republic, daring July 26 deed, January 1 Revolution Triumph, as well as the proclamation of socialism all these were formidable contribution of the Cuban people to the peoples of Our America,” he added.

MINH´s leaders insisted that Cuba remains the watershed between the historical past of oppression and dependence and the future in freedom.
