In a meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa, Doval and the member of the political bureau of the Communist Party of China and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of that organization, reviewed the situation of the line of control of both nations.
According to a brief Foreign Ministry statement, Doval told Wang Yi that the outlook since 2020 in the border area, eroded strategic trust and public and political basis for bilateral ties.
He emphasized the need to continue efforts to fully resolve the situation and restore peace and tranquility in the border areas, according to the official text.
A solution in that direction will remove impediments to normal bilateral relations, according to the Indian minister.
As a sign of willingness to solve the border conflict, this year, both countries continued bilateral contacts at political, diplomatic and military levels, such as the 18th round of the commander-level meeting in the Chushul-Moldo border area and the 27th round of the Consultation and Coordination Mechanism.
During these dialogues, the representations of the two nations agreed, among other things, on initiatives for withdrawal in the remaining areas in a frank and open manner, and to continue discussions through military and diplomatic channels.
