The National Administration of Aqueducts and Sewers (NAAS) confirmed that the chinese company will undertake the drilling as part of the construction project of a water treatment plant in Lake Ilopango.
The president of NAAS, Rubén Alemán, together with the Chinese ambassador in the Central American nation, Zhang Yanhui, and the ambassador of El Salvador in China, Aldo Álvarez, welcomed the Chinese professionals who will work on this project that will benefit the water supply and the infrastructure of the electrical and hydraulic network, which will increase the pumping capacity to 300 liters per second.
This project is part of what was agreed upon during a visit to China in 2019 by President Nayib Bukele, which included the Economic and Technological Cooperation Agreement between the Governments of China and El Salvador.
The initiative embraces the construction of a new National Library, which stands in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral in the capital’s downtown, and the National Stadium, in the military school, in Antiguo Cuscatlán, in this city.
