Bolivian activists reaffirm solidarity with Cuba on national day

Bolivia-Cuba
La Paz, Jul 25 (Prensa Latina) The Bolivian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba in Santa Cruz endorsed the criticism of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States towards the Caribbean island, expressed in documents of two international forums. "On the eve of July 26, the day on which Cuba began in 1953 the struggle for its definitive emancipation, we manifest ourselves by highlighting two important declarations recently made in the city of Brussels (Belgium)", the statement delivered to Prensa Latina stresses.

According to the text, point number 11 of the concluding document of the III European Union (EU)- Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC in Spanish) Summit, held on July 17 and 18, is unequivocal.

Quoted by the activists from Santa Cruz, the text says that “in relation to Resolution A/77/7 of the United Nations General Assembly of November 3, 2022, on the need to put an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed against Cuba, we recall our opposition to the legal and regulatory provisions with extraterritorial effect”.

This document also stated that “the re-designation of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism and its maintenance on the list have placed obstacles in the way of international financial transactions with the island”.

The Santa Cruz activists also praised “point number two of the Manifesto of the Peoples’ Summit, held in parallel and in opposition to the EU-CELAC forum, in which more than 200 popular organizations from Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe participated.

This item “condemns the unjust and illegitimate blockade suffered by Cuba on the part of the United States and joins the Declaration approved at the XXVI Meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum, held in Brasilia from June 29 to July 2, 2023 (…)”.
