The Ministry of Defense declared in its statement that “Kiev’s attempt to launch a terrorist attack using unmanned aerial vehicles” against targets in Crimea was frustrated, and specified that three drones were shot down by air defenses and 14 neutralized by electronic warfare. Eleven drones crashed into the Black Sea, and another three fell on the territory of the peninsula. The failed attack caused no casualties, it added.
The Governor of Crimea Sergei Aksionov previously reported an impact on an ammunition depot in the Dzhankoi district during the attack. In addition, fragments of a drone caused damage to a private house in the Kirovskoye district, in the east.
Aksionov also announced that the villages in a radius of five kilometers around the ammunition depot were evacuated.
For security reasons, the authorities suspended traffic on the highway connecting Dhanzkoi with Simferopol, and rail traffic in the Dzhankoi district, despite the fact that the railways were not damaged in the attack.
