Montevideo, Jul 24 (Prensa Latina) Excavations in search of disappeared detainees restarted today in the grounds of the 14th Battalion of the Uruguayan Army, where other victims of the dictatorship that ruled here from 1973 to 1985 are presumed to be buried.

These are the grounds where last June the 6th, skeletal remains, belonging to a woman, were found and which could not be identified in a specialized laboratory in Rosario, Argentina.

The president of the National Human Rights Institution (NHRI), Wilder Tyler, said that the excavations will continue in the same place where they were stopped in June when the bones of a woman were found. The expert tests carried out in Argentina concluded that her death was violent, which ratifies that it is the body of a disappeared detainee, a condition for which 192 people are being sought in this country.

“The work and determination to go forward are there, they are maintained, we are going to get to the facts”, ratified Wilder Tyler, head of the board of directors of the NHRI.

In this issue, the Minister of Defense, Javier García, said that the institution will contribute with “all that is necessary” to achieve the identification.

The bodies of the teacher Julio Castro, in 2011, and of Ricardo Blanco, a militant of the Revolutionary Communist Party, in 2012, appeared in the premises of Battalion 14.

The last finding took place about 100 meters from where those remains were found.
