During a political event, an animated film was screened displaying the attack on Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barrack, an action orchestrated by the leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro to prevent military troops from being sent to Moncada. Unfortunately, the action failed as the surprise factor that prevented M-26-7 members from entering the barrack failed to success. During the act, Fidel’s words were recalled as he said: “That July 26, 1953, was the end of efforts made by a group of young people full of ideals. And that was only the beginning, the beginning of a seven-year struggle (…)”.
According to Cuban diplomat Claudia Tejera, the Moncada assault was the small engine that started the great engine of the Cuban Revolution.
