Cuba thanks Argentine artists and intellectuals for their support

Buenos Aires, Jul 24 (Prensa Latina) Cuba thanked Argentine artists, writers and intellectuals who contributed for years to denounce and break the cruel U.S. blockade, the island's ambassador to the United States, Pedro Pablo Prada, said.

Through his profile on the social network Twitter, the diplomat acknowledged the support given by Argentine professionals to teaching and artistic production, shows, cinema, music and literature.

Nothing is casual. The U.S. blockade of Cuba causes serious damage: it defunds cultural production and industries, forces the closure of facilities, reduces access to publishing and artistic education resources and prevents artists from accessing international circuits, he said.

The South American country’s political scientist Atilio Borón described the recent statements made by singer and composer Fito Páez on the blockade imposed on Cuba for more than six decades as very regrettable.

Enough, please Fito! How would you have reacted if for only 64 days you could not replace a piece of your electronic keyboard? You would be crazy, making a fuss all over the world. Cubans have been putting up with that for 64 years, the renowned sociologist said in a video posted on social media.

You can’t be so irresponsible because you are a great artist. Think a little before talking about politics and don’t let yourself be manipulated by the record companies or the Miami mafia, he added.

Referring to Paez’s comments on the death of revolutionary Camilo Cienfuegos (1932-1959), Boron invited him to look for information on the lost and never recovered airplane.
