Russia charges that Poland might deploy troops in Ukraine

Serguei-Narishkin
Moscow, Jul 21 (Prensa Latina) Poland may impose its control over the western territories of Ukraine by deploying its troops there, the director of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Narishkin, said on Friday.

The senior official raised that possibility during a meeting betweem Russian President Vladimir Putin and the permanent members of Russia’s Security Council in Moscow on Friday, the presidential office noted.

Narishkin referred to the Polish Government’s gradual realization that no amount of Western aid is capable of supporting Ukraine for the purposes it was set up for.

“It is realizing that the issue of Ukraine’s defeat is only a matter of time,” he stressed.

“In this regard, the Polish leadership is intensifying its intention to control the western territories of Ukraine, the western regions, by deploying its troops there,” Narishkin stated.

“It is planned that this step, as one of the options, will be formalized as a fulfillment of allied obligations within the framework of the Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian security initiative, the so-called Lublin Triangle.”

“It seems to us that we have to keep a close eye on these rather dangerous plans by the Polish leadership,” Narishkin added.
