Ibrahim arrived in Vietnam on Thursday and was received by his Vietnamese counterpart, Pham Minh Chinh, with whom he visited an exhibition on the most significant milestones in bilateral diplomatic relations, and held official talks, in which both agreed to strengthen the exchange of delegations and contacts at all levels and through the channels of the Party, State, Government and Parliament.
They also addressed the design of a mechanism to meet and exchange regularly and in flexible ways, and advocated taking advantage of the opportunities offered by regional trade agreements, as well as expanding bilateral collaboration in the fields of digital, circular and green economy.
The Malaysian Prime Minister was also received by the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, who stressed that the visit marks a new milestone that contributes to promote the development of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
According to the official program, the Malaysian head of government will pay courtesy visits to the President of the Republic, Vo Van Thuong, and the President of the Vietnamese Parliament, Vuong Dinh Hue, on the last day of his visit.
This is the first official visit that Ibrahim has made to Vietnam after taking over as head of the Malaysian Government in December last year.
Malaysia is Vietnam’s second largest trading partner among members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and ninth in the world. Its investments in Vietnam exceed 13 billion dollars, and the commercial exchange in 2022 reached 14.68 billion dollars.

Concluye visita a Vietnam primer ministro de Malasia
Hanoi, 21 jul (Prensa Latina) El primer ministro de Malasia, Anwar Ibrahim, concluye una visita oficial de dos días a Vietnam encaminada a fortalecer los vínculos bilaterales y en particular la asociación estratégica pactada en el año 2015.
Ibrahim llegó a Vietnam el jueves y fue recibido por su homólogo vietnamita, Pham Minh Chinh, con quien visitó una exposición sobre los hitos más significativos de las relaciones diplomáticas bilaterales, y sostuvo conversaciones oficiales, en las que ambos acordaron fortalecer el intercambio de delegaciones y contactos en todos los niveles y a través de los canales del Partido, Estado, Gobierno y Parlamento.
Abordaron asimismo el diseño de un mecanismo para reunirse e intercambiar periódicamente y en formas flexibles, y abogaron por aprovechar las oportunidades que ofrecen los acuerdos comerciales regionales, así como por ampliar la colaboración bilateral en los campos de la economía digital, circular y verde.
El primer ministro de Malasia fue recibido también por el secretario general del Comité Central del Partido Comunista de Vietnam (PCV), Nguyen Phu Trong, quien subrayó que la visita marca un nuevo hito que contribuye a promover el desarrollo de la asociación estratégica entre los dos países.
De acuerdo con el programa oficial, el jefe de Gobierno de Malasia realizará visitas de cortesía a los presidentes de la República, Vo Van Thuong, y de la Asamblea Nacional (Parlamento), Vuong Dinh Hue, durante el último día de su visita.
Esta es la primera visita oficial que Ibrahim realiza a Vietnam después de asumir la jefatura del Gobierno de Malasia en diciembre del año pasado.
Malasia es el segundo mayor socio comercial de Vietnam entre los miembros de la Asociación de Naciones del Sudeste Asiático (Asean) y el noveno en el mundo. Sus inversiones en Vietnam superan los 13 mil millones de dólares y el intercambio comercial en 2022 fue de 14,68 mil millones de dólares.
