“In addition to being a beautiful task, one feels a lot of emotion when different policies to care for people who live in those areas are debated in Parliament,” Fernandez told Prensa Latina during the 1st Ordinary Session of the National People’s Power Assembly of Cuba, in its 10th Legislature.
Regarding the Policy of Integral Attention to Children, Adolescents and Youths, approved in Parliament on Thursday, the lawmaker from Bayamo municipality, in Granma province, stressed that she was happy because the regulation proposes specific actions for these age groups and protects, from a cross-sectional approach, those people who live in faraway places.
She noted the importance that the policy takes into account such complex issues for these territories as recreation, teenage pregnancy and personal development, because if they are not properly addressed, there is a risk of losing professionals and increasing migration to urban areas.
Fernandez insisted on implementing urgent measures to strengthen that beautiful program created by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, which is the Turquino Plan, which has promoted social projects in remote areas for 35 years.
