Delegations from both countries discussed in this capital “the use of targeted sanctions to deter and disrupt harmful activities” and demonstrated -they say- “willingness to act to uphold international norms”.
Everything has to do with the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and the position adopted by the United States and its Western allies.
For the delegations that met the day before, “unprecedented costs have been imposed on the Kremlin,” a statement released to the media here said.
Since the beginning of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, “more than 2,500 individuals and entities were designated, and billions of dollars in assets were blocked” to Moscow, they acknowledged.
In March 2022, shortly after the outbreak of hostilities, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that those who persist in the policy of sanctions against their country should ask themselves whether they achieve any goals.
