In a statement, the Foreign Ministry urged the UNSC to assume its role and condemn the attack, in addition to taking immediate measures to force Israel to remove those criminal policies that flagrantly violate international and humanitarian law.

The Ministry further called on those Western governments protecting and supporting Tel Aviv not to obstruct UNSC´s work on putting an end to crimes by the Israeli occupation authorities and holding them accountable.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, Israeli fighter jets launched several missile barrages at sites nearby Damascus City, causing injuries to two officers and material damage.

This has been the sixteenth attack carried out by Israel in 2023, the previous one occurred on July 1 against positions in the central Homs province, about 200 kilometers north of this capital.
