Brussels, Jul 19 (Prensa Latina) Yesterday, Alicia Bárcenas, Mexico’s Foreign Minister, reiterated at the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States - European Union (CELAC-EU), that the government of her country advocates the end of the blockade against Cuba and Venezuela.

Also in favor of the peaceful solution of conflicts, and to deepen cooperation on the basis of reciprocity and respect.

On the final day of the summit, Bárcenas pointed out that the region does not want to maintain the center-periphery paradigm. We refuse to continue to be the suppliers of critical raw materials and low-skilled labor at lower wages.

We see an excellent window of opportunity to partner in industrial platforms to create value, generate employment with rights, with environmental sustainability, he said.

she said that Mexico will continue working to conclude soon and satisfactorily the negotiations of the Global Agreement with the EU.

We want to find reliable partners in Europe for this urgent journey, with creative financial mechanisms that do not generate more debt, that encourage the private sector with technology and knowledge transfer, she added.

He welcomed the interest of European investments in here country, particularly to promote projects in the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan, in the Transisthmian Corridor, and in the southeast, to address the structural causes of migration from south to north: poverty, unemployment and violence.

If we do not take the appropriate measures, the consequences of climate change, irregular migration, illicit arms and drug trafficking, will impact the very foundations of human civilization.

Bárcenas was the last speaker at the high-level meeting, which closed its doors with a final communiqué.

She recalled three aspects of the summit that were important to her: A Health Self-Sufficiency Plan, which includes a platform of regulatory agencies to create a Latin American and Caribbean Medicines Agency.

The establishment of a Climate Adaptation Fund that has 3.8 million dollars and expects to grow with European and Green Fund contributions to receive funds.

And finally, the Latin American and Caribbean Space Agency, which has already installed a virtual geospatial observation center in Trinidad and Tobago.
