Managua, Jul 19 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Tapia arrived in Nicaragua Wednesday to participate in the central activity for the 44th anniversary of the triumph of the Sandinista Revolution.

The high-ranking Cuban leader arrived in this country along with Gustavo Véliz, director of Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean department at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Lilliam Loáisiga, director of the General Directorate for Europe at the Nicaraguan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, welcomed Tapia and his delegation at Managua’s Augusto C. Sandino International Airport.

Delegations from other nations, including Russia, Belarus, Abkhazia, Palestine, Venezuela, and other friendly countries, are expected to participate in the National Day activities in Nicaragua.

The third and last armed Revolution in Latin America and the Caribbean triumphed in this country on July 19, 1979. It followed after that of Mexico in 1910 and Cuba in 1959.

With the victory of the Sandinista National Liberation Front, 45 years of destruction, under the yoke of the Somoza military dictatorship, came to an end.
