“I was at a meeting with the Minister of National Security, national and U.S. experts to agree to advise and create within our police service what we call, “vetted units” or groups of special police officers who are vetted to ensure that their integrity is intact.

Rowley listed this proposal as necessary during a local government headquartered at Harris Promenade in San Fernando.

“We are prepared to pay more to those vetted units if they maintain their integrity and help us root out wrongdoers and corruption within the police service, customs, immigration and Parliament,” he was quoted by the Trinidad Express website.

“We must protect and increase the number of members with proven integrity because we are now in a life and death struggle with criminals in this country,” the PM concluded.
