Russian ships set sail to train with Chinese naval task force

Moscow, Jul 18 (Prensa Latina) Four ships of the Russian Pacific Fleet left the port of Vladivostok to participate in an exercise with the Chinese Navy, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported.

As released by the official website of the Ministry, the Northern Interaction-2023 exercise will take place in the Sea of Japan. Russia will be represented by the destroyers Admiral Tributs and Admiral Panteleyev and the corvettes Gremyashchiy and Aldar Tsydenzhapov.

Five ships of the People’s Liberation Army Navy will participate on China’s side. The ships left the Qingdao naval base in the Shandong province on Saturday morning.

The group includes the destroyers Qiqihar and Guiyang, the frigates Zaozhuang and Rizhao, and the supply ship Taihu.

According to a statement from the Chinese Ministry of Defense, the Northern Interaction-2023 exercise, seeks to safeguard the security of strategic sea lanes, improve the coordination of the two armies, and strengthen their capabilities to jointly preserve regional peace and stability.
