Alejandro Gil, who also serves as Economy and Planning Minister, recalled how the hostile and unjust blockade imposed on Cub for over 60 years has escalated to a qualitatively more harmful and inhuman dimension, with a reinforced extraterritorial component.
Gil also stated that including Cuba in the states sponsoring terrorism (SST) list reinforces dissuasive and intimidating impact of the coercive US policies as well as Cuba´s difficulties to enter international market and carry out financial operations.
“The economic, commercial and financial blockade is undoubtedly our major obstacle to progress in rolling out the 2030 Agenda and the 2030 National Economic and Social Development Plan,” Gil stressed.
Despite difficulties, Cuba continues to focus on building a sovereign, independent, socialist, democratic, prosperous and sustainable society.
As part of the updating of our economic and social model, conditions are created to progress in greater recovery dynamism, he added.
We will continue to advance along the path of sustainable development, strengthening planning and coordination at different levels of government, promoting innovation, scientific research and constructing multi-stakeholder partnerships as tools for recovery and progress, he said.
