Brussels, Jul 17 (Prensa Latina) Leaders from European political forces called Monday for non-interference and mutual respectful relations among the European Union (EU), Latin America, and the Caribbean.
On the framework of the 3rd Summit between the EU and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CLACS) taking place in Brussels, Raoul Hedebouw, President of the Workers’ Party of Belgium, considered the two-day forum a unique opportunity to forge relations of equality.
It is a crucial event and a great opportunity so that the EU stops following the United States and reaches out to nations with equal ties, Hedebouw told Prensa Latina.
José Luis Centella, president of the Communist Party of Spain, called for a successful forum that benefits the countries.
We live in a complicated world in which we need the EU and the CLACS to move towards relations of friendship and cooperation, Centella told Prensa Latina.
We have called to hold the Brussels-2023 Peoples’ Summit in parallel to guarantee that the leaders who meet here, listen to the voices of our social movements and progressive forces, the political leader said.
Our expectation and our call to the countries is that when the official meeting of leaders ends on Tuesday, there will be a consensus to work together for the benefit of the nations and end once and for all colonialism and interference.
