Cuba to host Workshop on Sustainable Food Security

Havana, Jul 17 (Prensa Latina) Sharing progress and results of the Country Program for Strategic Support to Sustainable Food Security in Cuba (SAS-Cuba) was one core gols in a workshop held in Villa Clara province, FAO reported Monday.

The event also aimed to contribute to transformation of Local Systems as part of the implementation of the Law on Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security.

The workshop was attended by Cuba´s Agriculture Ministry (MINAG) and representatives of local governments, actors and coordinators of the SAS Program.

As part of the event, contributions and challenges for the legal standard in the six municipalities were discussed.

Among challenges addressed, participants referred to the capacity building process, social communication for the dissemination of the Law, implementation of action plans for local food systems, intersectoriality, as well as follow-up and monitoring.
