During their talks, the two officials called for enhancing cooperation in several fields, maintaining coordination on political issues, and intensifying joint efforts to fight terrorism.

They stated that the mutual support between Damascus and Baghdad at hard times reflects the brotherly and historical relations between the two countries.

President Al-Assad thanked Baghdad in a press conference for its support during the war that Damascus has been waging since 2011 and for rejecting all justifications for aggression against Syria.

Our two countries are united in a single battle to confront terrorist organizations, and the Iraqi brothers gave their lives for Syria’s stability, he stressed.
