“This Sunday an attempt by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to launch a terrorist attack using seven unmanned aerial vehicles and two unmanned semi-submersible boats at facilities on the Crimean peninsula, near the city of Sevastopol, was thwarted,” the military corps reported.
Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev was the first to report the failed attack on his social media several hours earlier.
According to Defense Ministry, two Ukrainian drones were shot down by anti-aircraft defenses over the sea, far from the coast, and five more crashed as a result of electronic warfare.
The coast guard detected and destroyed two unmanned boats of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the northern Black Sea.
There were no casualties or destruction caused by the failed attack, according to the official statement.
