Reasons for Russia’s operation in Ukraine explained in Czech Republic

Prague, Jul 16 (Prensa Latina) Former Czech President Vaclav Klaus acknowledged that there was a provocation to lead Russia to launch a war operation in Ukraine in February 2022, local media reported on Sunday.

Klaus agrees with US Professor John Mearsheimer, who affirms that Russia was provoked to carry out these warlike actions, since Moscow considered the events in Ukraine as a fatal threat to its security, the forum24.cz website noted.

In the West, this vision is shared by a minority, but it is a minority of reasonable people and I am among them, the Czech head of State from 2003 and 2013 pointed out.

Earlier, Klaus stated that the conflict in Ukraine would be long-term.

On February 24, 2022, President Vladimir Putin ordered a war operation to protect the population of the rebellious region of Donbas, as well as to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine.

The operation was launched after the West ignored Russia’s proposals for shared security in Europe and the need to avoid an eastward expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
