According to a press release from the Cuban Ministry of Culture, the ICAIC Board of Directors announced the decision on Sunday, at a meeting where Samada’s work in recent years was acknowledged.
Until her appointment to this new post, the acting president was the director of the International Cinema and Television School (EICTV) in San Antonio de los Baños, on the outskirts of Havana, where she had positive results, the Facebook profile of Cubacine reported.
Waldo Ramirez de la Ribera, an audiovisual producer with an long career and a member of the aforementioned Board of Directors, was introduced to the school’s management team and the Superior Council of the Foundation of New Latin American Cinema to hold the post of director.
Ramirez de la Ribera was one of the founders of Televisión Serrana, he was Cuba’s representative in the multi-state Telesur channel and, more recently, he was the first vice president of the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT).
