We are facing an EU that tries to impose its will, a policy that defends the interests of multinationals, instead of promoting relations on a win-win basis, Botenga told Prensa Latina.
The EU and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) will hold their 3rd Summit next week, a moment Botenga considered as perfect for a new rapprochement.
According to Botenga, the EU leadership often adopts paternalistic positions, far removed from respect for sovereignty and the principle of mutual benefit.
It is pressing to reverse such a vision, hence the significance of the Peoples’ Summit, he said.
The MEP stressed that social movements, trade unions and other actors of the European, Latin American and Caribbean civil societies will join forces in this meeting so that the will of rapprochement between peoples prevails.
